Plant Germplasm Resources and Utilization Research Laboratory

The Plant Germplasm Resources and Utilization Research Laboratory of the College of Plant Sciences of Jilin University was established in 2004 as a key laboratory at the school level. The research laboratory mainly focuses on my country’s main food crops, economic crops, horticultural plants, and characteristic medicinal plants, and systematically collects, preserves, appraises, evaluates, creates and utilizes germplasm resources for plant breeding, biotechnology and agriculture. Production provides new and valuable germplasm resources. At the same time, using the theories and methods of plant genetic breeding, molecular biology and genetic engineering, mining high-yield, high-quality, stress-resistant genes and identifying functions of plants, providing theoretical and technical support for cultivating new varieties of high-yield, high-quality, multi-resistant and efficient crops. The laboratory undertakes more than 20 national natural science foundations, major national genetically modified projects, national key research projects during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, and various provincial and municipal projects; it has won 5 awards at various levels, selected 6 new crop varieties, and won the national Authorized 3 patents, published more than 50 academic papers, of which 19 were included in SCI.
